New Cube World Screenshots

Over the last weeks I've experimented a lot with quests: completely random quests, semi-random quests, pre-written class quests. But I somehow had the feeling that the addition of quests could remove a lot of the freedom and restrict the player too much. I'm also afraid that they could become too repetitive and generic over time. So I decided to leave them out for now and put the game focus on exploration, fighting and character progress, which are in my opinion the most fun aspects of Cube World. Here is an overview of the new features:

- There is now a clearly arranged overview map showing lands and levels. The player can switch between the voxel map and the overview map.

- I've added screens for character selection, world selection, character creation and world generation

- Each class has access to three different types of weapons
* Warrior: Great weapons, dual-wielded one-handed weapons, shield + one-handed weapons
* Rogue: Daggers, fist weapons, longswords
* Spirit Mage: Staffs, wands, bracelets
* Ranger: Bows, crossbows, boomerangs

- There are now groups of NPC adventurers wandering through the landscapes and fighting monsters, just like the player. Some of them are bad and will attack the player.

- Cities have now different districts and there are class trainers

This is the character selection screen. The number of character slots is not limited.

Here is the character creation screen. The background is different with each new game.

This is the world selection screen. Each character can enter each world.

Here is my character in-game. It's a ranger, specialized at sniper. In the final game, specializations won't be available from the beginning. Also abilities will be unlocked one after another which each level.
As a sniper I can lay down and become stealthy. The view gets zoomed in, too. With this ability I can perform powerful stealth attacks, similar to a rogue. However the effect ends when I move.

Alpaca!

This is the world overview map, showing the different lands. The blue lands are oceans, green lands are of my level, and red lands are higher level. Lower level lands would be gray.

Here's a group of nice NPC wizards.

Hey, there's Pixxie. :D

Let's go to that castle.

We must be careful not to pull all enemy groups at once.

I just found a crafting formula. I can learn it and craft that amulet whenever I have the right materials.

Here we nearly wiped because we got attacked by multiple groups at once.

This is the boss. 3.. 2.. 1..

Fire!

See that Pixxie clone in the background? The boss has summoned it. Each boss has random special abilities like this.

Even enemies can drink. :)

Yes, we made it!

We have leveled up, so let's travel to one of those LVL 2 lands.

Let's defeat that cyclops before.

Cyclopses fight with hands and feet now, and have new special abilites like this charge attack. He can also do a cyclone attack. Trolls still use big maces and have an earthquake attack.

We've reached the frontier to the LVL 2 land. It's a snow land!

Let's see if the vendors have better equipment.

Some mountains can cet really high.

Here's a desert land.

This is the ranger master. Here I can learn new abilies and practice them with aims.

Some exploration pictures...

Here's a group of evil Lizardmen.

The frontier between two lands.

A group of Orc adventurers.

A rare ogre. Rare creatures drop a spirit when you defeat them.

These orcs are camping over there. Fortunately they can't see me.

I just got a boomerang!

The boomerang follows the movement of the crosshair.

It hits enemies multiple times. It's my favorite ranger weapon. I'm planning to add throwable metal disks, too.

I think you should add in quests, but make them rare

Hey wollay, love the screenshots, but didnt you say you were gonna post a video? tbh i'm getting kind of sick of screenshots.
Thumbs up if you agree

i just can't wait man , please give us a leak , and continue to work , just to occup us and make us stop raping the comment button to say u how hard we want the game

He said on twitter that he wanted to mess with some sound effects and stuff, before putting out a new video.

why dont you mix rogue and archer? it would be badass use a bow and than two daggers to defeat the enemies =)

I just dont want this to turn into abandonware. :(

You're thinking of the indie-games-movement bastardized version of "beta". What you're thinking of is usually classified as an Alpha or even pre-alpha.

Angusman said...

Maybe make it so that there are still those classes as an option, but give the player the option to start with no class and gain weapon skill that accumulates somehow, gradually making them better at the specific weapon, so they could use any weapon, but weren't good at any specific weapon to start off?
-Please read and consider trying this idea out, thnx :)

agreed. forget my comment. u made me change my mind ^^

meh don't like your idea.

I think he should keep it off Greenlight, so that he can get all the money he deserves, instead of having Valve take a sizable portion of his profit.

This game just keeps getting better and better looking. Super excited for it wollay :) keep on pushin! It'll be worth it.

Make me want to play Zelda for some reason, and that's a good sign.

Gabe_b said...

Does that mean that you will need one machine running as a dedicated host or can one player run the server program in the background and still be playing the game on the same computer?

BestRbx said...

Dunno if this even a smart question considering the game and camera style...But thinking a it into the future, knowing this will be InDev for quite a bit longer...will there be possible Oculus Rift integration?

Nachtrae said...

That sounds awesome indeed! Even if they're semi-dynamic only, such events would give the world the feeling that it's actually alive. Really helps the immersion! :D Perhaps you could even add in events in higher levels that can end up destroying a village (like a group of werewolves that roam around the village, or a dragon) if you decide to ignore it (leaving only charred buildings if you return later). On the other hand, if you do help the villagers, you will forever get a discount in the stores and perhaps free stays in the inn because the people love you for saving them!

Or another idea, you find a ghost village! Totally devoid of life! The curious players will see if they can find out the reasons, and they could find evidence of a necromancer working evil magics. Or perhaps they get visited by a ghost if they sleep in the area, with the same necromancer thing coming up. Again, you can have the choice to free the villagers from the necromancer's hold...or ignore it and leave them to suffer eternally ^_^

niles said...

i must ask, allow all players access to each weapons! it seems correct and only appropriate and it gives great versatility so you dont end up with dark souls where everyone uses one thing and its annoying in that sense. but, make it so each class specializes in these weapons so it does extra damage or has better range or something of the sort! and take you're gorram time mate! also, chakrams should be a mage weapon if they are added...add elemental damage...or something...

EroShinigami said...

He must release an alpha or something ASAP. I understand that taking his time and doing some quality work is good but its been for a long time...Since this game still have no much spread around, with this long wait he is losing more future suporters than getting more. There is nothing wrong in releasing a defective version of a game or still in progress. Thats what we call "tests" and are both good for stress test and spread of the game, and for being incomplete and maybe too buggy, it will help more with motivating the players to buy it later than actually making a bad view of the game. So please, if you really plan into making this a successful release, consider making a test, or, unfortunately, you may not survive the actual market.

Francisco Montenegro said...

Wollay, what about do a skill tree based on the skill tree of Path of Exile? (Sorry bad english)

Zarpar said...

I agree that you should finish this game before release. An alpha/beta is not really necessary, you seem to be doing a lot of play testing. However can we have an approximate release date? Summer? Autumn? Winter? 2013? 2014?

Wwza7 said...

One big thing Wollay - Don't chain separate class to compleetly different types of weapons. Yea, it would be perfect to see that Archer is really archer, fights better in bow than sword, and warrior is better in hammer than boomerang, but if archer will be forced to fight with group of evil dwarves, he clearly won't be able to defend himself. Maybe archers will have much bigger stats in range weapons (aw yea, will there be something like artillery aiming mode for long range firing for archers?) and rouges in weapons you described. Sey when you will be REAL master in late game (20 lvl berserker) and you want to challenge with your friend (18 lvl scout) will that be fair fight? With balanced weapons for each class it would be much more on player abilities than on class type.

And what about that stealth snipers? Will that be infinite stealth and just shoot like a BOSS being totally invisible, or will enemies be able to pretend from where arrow came?

Sascha Christmann said...

That's pretty naive. He would make much more money because of the advertisement he gets through Steam. This game would easily go to the front page of Steam where millions of eyes are seeing it daily.

Burak said...

I love the looks of this game and I've been waiting for a while now... But wollay it's BULL**** that you release 1 post every 1-4 months you should be more active with your community ask them what would they love to see in-game gather some suggestions make polls and make amazing updates.

Zeb McNeil said...

The longest Wollay has gone without posting on this blog, is two months, and just to make sure everyone understands exactly what I'm saying, that means he posted in one month and had no posts the next month, but the month after that he had a new post. Also, there have been months where he has posted a lot of posts in that month. And finally, this does not talk about his twitter activity at all.

Zeb McNeil said...

You can't start complaining about unbalanced classes until you have played the game. From what I have seen it is far from clear that the archer won't be able to defend himself against a group of dwarves.

Kantham said...

Wollay, I have absolutely no idea if this comment will reach you, but if it does, I want to first congratulate you for showing a lot of dedication, patience and care to your project. It's really good to see that you actually took the time to sit down and re-think through your hard-worked quest system and you went with the best solution possible, even if that meant to sacrifice a lot of work and thoughts in the process.

I am sure you will make a polished game at this rate, I will, as always, keep an eye on your project with the same patience and care you put into this project.

Thanks and have a good day. :)

Dan said...

Omfg look at picture 58 right hand side is that a werewolf???? OMG!!!

Hmm maybe so but he can't just release something every week that says i havent had time to do much but since you all want so many updates on this blog i have added a green leaf... is that interesting? no :)

Luna said...

And for the ones who don't want to translate, I did my best saying he should keep up the hard work, don't rush it, and we shall wait for as long as we can.

dhj0411 said...

hello does anyone know how the classes would work well in single player. Mainly if i wanted to be a mage it would seem i need almost another person to advance. Would this be fixed by having companions that followed you almost like in skyrim.

AustinMclEctro said...

I also like this idea. This immediately reminded me of Guild Wars 2's Elementalist, where wielding a dagger in your primary hand empowers you with vicious close-quarters and physical magic attacks.
-->I play like that half the time, it's fun.
It'd be cool to see something like that!

liger said...

i want this in a free version

OOoo said...

there will be a hability tree, right? Will the game spirit hability tree? or even spirit combination abilities? they will be separated for character or weapon?

Angusman said...

Are the "rare" monsters going to be like extremely rare, or just relatively... Kind of a dumb question, but I'm curious.

ShnitzelKiller said...

It would just be another one of the indie games shoveled onto greenlight, indistinguishable from all the crap. Maybe earlier, greenlight would have helped its popularity, but at this point Cubeworld definitely deserves to be its own game.

ShnitzelKiller said...

if gamers have become so flippant that they actually bore of finished products and rely on hype to remain interested (as indicated even by your name, "Minecraftfan"), I surely won't miss the lost customers.

Nerlian said...

Wollay, I hope you see this comment, I had a great ideia because I can see some people don`t like your idea of restricting some weapons for some classes, I am one of these people, and I think I have something you could use to satisfy you and the fans of this game.

There could be hybrid weapons like Sharp Bow for rangers, that if you press a key it would change to either something like a sword, but with decreased stats.

Rogues I think they would have some weapons that are ranged and some that are melee right?
And for warriors I think there should be something like throwable axes.

And for the fans, reply to me saying what do you think about my idea!

Squwidgey said...

Wollay i just wanted to say that i have never seen a game with such freedom and detail. It exites me to see ramdom things poping up in updates. People say in other game that "the possibilitys are endless" but it is nothing compared with Cubeword. Im getting this game the day it comes out (ive been saying this since the day i saw this art work) and im ditching every other game. Good luck on the name wollay!

Squwidgey said...

I kinda agree with you Nerlian, i was supprised i couldnt have a bow and sword together. I like the idea of a weapon hybrid (sounds special xD), and i hope Wollay has seen this post too xD

Christopher Brady said...

Awesome stuff, can't wait to see more.

Zeb McNeil said...

I really don't understand why people care about the class weapon restrictions, almost every rpg ever has had a similar type of restrictions and they all work just fine.

hutcheanon said...

you should totally start a kick starter... TAKE MY MONEY NOW!!!

NonBritGit said...

This continues to be the coolest looking game I've ever seen! It's also starting to look like vaporware. Not sure if month after month after month of teases is a good idea.

Nerlian said...

Look, class restrictions would make the classes BE the classes, O understand what Wollay is trying to do, and for satisfying the two sides, I had this idea.

Think: if you are an archer, with... let`s say...8 dwarfs or similar, or even a very fast monster. If you can`t attack them with a melee atack your chances of failing would decrease, and that would decrease the players motivation too, to see the world is too difficult. And Wollay couldn`t make the monsters less difficult because that wouldn`t do right.

I hope now you understand.

king_hit said...

wollay i dont care how long you take to make this game i would rather have a great game ready ages away that have a sloppy game released now. but i would like to know what this game will be called and when its website is ready. and thank you for continuing your work on this amazing game but if you have any updates about the name could you please mention them

king_hit said...

that point must be getting close (i cant think how this game could possibly get any better it's amazing) but until then we will just have to sit down and wait

king_hit said...

it's been in development since 2010 thats not 1 and a half years

Wwza7 said...

I'm just saying that because when i played Mass Effect 2 I was very disappointed with weapons system (I could use only PISTOLS!). I know that this is much different game, but I'm afraid that this system also can fail here. I know that Archer wont have a chance with group of dwarves, but at least one melee weapon like knife or at leas hand-to-hand combat would be nice. Same with warriors that will never throw/shoot anything. I know that I can't start complaining until I get my hands on Cube World, but this is one thing that I'm afraid of.

Maybe in final game there will be some weapons or tools that every class will be able to use? Say harpoon (to pull enemies) or raw magic? Or maybe it will be possible to teach warrior how to throw shuriken? Your totally right about this complaining until final game, but we can pretend how things will go, since we also are inspiration for wollay

Wwza7 said...

That's Exactly what i meant in my comment, archers will be better in bows, but suck in using knife. But maybe in final game we will be able to learn how to partly use class restricted weapons?

N1NJ4C47 said...

Pets fix this problem :)

Zeb McNeil said...

This still doesn't help me understand why people care about these restrictions. I have heard that argument, but it fails to acknowledge that you can lock on to enemies so it isn't like you have to aim, and that Wollay has said the archer would have a move that allows them to jump back away from the enemies, and that there will be tank like pets that will most likely be very helpful to ranged classes.

FiredHigh said...

Have you tested much multi-player capability? It would be interesting to see how many people could get on a server at once without it pinging too low.

EchinGames said...

Call it CubeScape Wollay :D
Will there be like NPC Stores for you to buy Iron or something like that and then you have to go to a Blacksmith to make armor or just Level up in smithing to do it yourself?
Can we host our own servers when the game is done?
Can you add a few giant servers for everybody to play on?
Will there be different language packs?
Will you be able to mine?
Can you walk on clouds?
Are Villages randomly generated?
Can you punch?
Will there be low level armor/tools/weapons lying around NPC Villages for you to pick up and use?
Can you add a sky dimension and a hell dimension for high level players?
Can you add ridable Mobs like horses or big wolves or even bears?
Can you add rare ores to craft op armor/tools like adamantit

I've noticed recently in the character selection pic, that each character has a "specialization". I'm curious, does this effect player skills and restrictions?

Chris Schwing said...

Hey wollay, idea on quests.

Have soft quests. Have NPC's mention they'd like stuff from larger treasures found in locations(castle/cave) and not have a specific quest-log but that information be available to the player so that player can choose to undertake the task or not and get a reward depending on the quest giver. tavern gives discount, armor gives weapon, crafter gives supplies, stuff like that.

Valve was an indie developer when they made HL1.

Wow, you're the best Wollay. I agree with a few other people here - don't rush it. The longer you work on it, the more fun it will be when it's finished. Personally, I think a rough estimate for a release date would be nice.

But really, you've made fantastic decisions so far - So whatever you decide, I think every last one of us is with you.

Pirate said...

What about the main quest?

I suggest the exploring an uncharted world will be the best for fighters and sneakers. For exemple, what about to draw maps for a Lord... sometimes put a flag on the top of mountains, then maybe later you have to find caves that have gold inside, or something important for the Lord, put beacons for lead the way for workers. And finaly, you have to locate some special place that will brings some powers to the lands...

Fun enough? Plus of course some random quests from bots...

Sapp said...

What about throwing knifes for Rouges?

Matthew Simoneau said...

To add to this... There could be events like this, and maybe two choices per "quest" or "event". One choice good, one choice evil.

Derrick said...

A kickstarter that let people who pay enough get early access would get you rich. I would pay 500$ right now to be able to play I can only imagine what someone who has a LOT of money would pay. I need this game T.T

CubeWorld comment said...

I am sort of interested to know what the deal is with clouds... i don't know if you are able to glide through them or if they actually move, also i am a bit dissapointed in character custimization, i thought it might have more options or at least a pixel by pixel advanced character custimization, although i can see how that might cause problems with weapons and it being too complicated, still i would like to see clothing custimization or being able to at least add pixels to the original preset to give it more custimization

Viktor Creed said...

it would still be nice. maybe using a weapon out of class could take a HUGE penalty but if you relly wanted it you could be the odd ball that spent 10 lvls cross classing.

Zeb McNeil said...

Not sure if you can move through clouds, and as of the most recent video, they don't move. We do know that you can't land on the clouds, which would make you think you can pass through them, but it could also mean they are just set higher than you can go. The stuff I'm referring to on clouds, the video: http://wollay.blogspot.com/2012/09/new-cube-world-video.html and a tweet saying you can't land on clouds: https://twitter.com/wol_lay/statuses/295997744177356801 As for the lack of voxel by voxel customization on the character creator Wollay has stated that it was because he didn't want people making inappropriate characters. We can also assume that because there are playable races he didn't add in that option because then you could be running around as a skeleton dude and look like a squirrel, which would be weird. There is however weapon customization, where you start with the base weapon and you can add blocks to them to make them look cooler, this also serves as a way to make the weapon stronger. Read more about the weapon customization here: http://wollay.blogspot.com/2012/01/screenshots-spirit-system.html and http://wollay.blogspot.com/2012/01/screenshots-blueprints-mobs-pets.html

This game is gonna be amazing, but I still think we need a demo/beta. Don't think I don't appreciate the work, and understand that you want to finish it. I do understand, I've pretty much done the same thing with all of my game projects. None of them were ever "Finished", sadly. Whether you do, or do not give us a beta/demo, I'll be here. I'll always be here.

Squwidgey said...

Wollay. So many people are asking for a beta. If you decided to go toward that direction, you should do what simcity did. Which was: You were able to Register for the beta. The lucky ones were picked to test the game for a little and post there feedback. Or you could make it that the people that payed for a beta would get it but only about 1000 people would be able to get the chance. Im not too fussed about not having a beta but some people are, and would report bugs and glitches if they had the chance to play. So here is my idea ^^ I hope this interested you :D

Angusman said...

Anyone agree with my earlier post about classes... That is, you start out with no specialties or specific class, and then as you use a specific weapon, you gradually gain mastery in that specific area of combat, anyone else like this?

Zeb McNeil said...

The idea may sound nice, but basically it just gives a false sense of freedom. Ultimately this idea will end up restricting you to a single weapon type instead of three.

Angusman said...

Well if you've ever played skyrim, it would be like that, you could choose to use certain weapons and increase the skill level of different things, either ranged or melee, and that could open up new possibilities. It could, in a sense, either restrict freedom, or give more freedom to the player, if they prefer melee, they could improve that, same for ranged, or they could choose to work on both and thereby become more versatile in battle, there could even be the possibility to combine the skills that each default class would normally obtain or have if the player would choose to.

Joeboy956 said...

I would pay 60 bucks for a Alpha of this game.. aslong as i would get the finished product for free, like they did with minecraft only thing is what engine is this i hopes it not like minecraft where you need a pretty high end pc to use it i would love to see a good game like this so optimised to run on a netbook or a windows 8 tablet yeah i'd run on a core i5 but i mean the intel atom ones

SirMorgenStar said...

Holy shit Wollay, you magnificent bastard, release this wonderful thing already, this is absolutely glorious!

Elucief said...

That's not slenderman. That's one of the popular identities that the Anonymous group would use from time to time.

Zeb McNeil said...

Skyrim had a false sense of freedom, it had this lure of no classes, but in reality you still choose a class just through the skills you decide to train instead of at the beginning. And with the statement you made about preferring melee and improving that, if you prefer melee just play a rogue or warrior. Something people almost always seem to forget, when asking for this kind of thing, is that we have seen nothing that shows you can quickly switch between two weapons, which means switching between melee and ranged weapons would be a big hassle.

Linkus68 said...

I have some semi decent ideas. How about also along with being able to customize the weapons, that we can also re-name the weapon too? Also, add several servers Like add guilds and a guild war server? With just an arena, and not a huge, open world. And a PVP world would be nice too. We could have an auction house to trade with other players.

And I think that I heard about adding boats, ships, rafts, etc? If that is so, I'd like to see pirates or something that you can fight and take their treasure. It'd make the ocean a bit more fun and interesting since oceans ae usually empty...Man, I just can't wait for this game!

Wollay please release a beta for testing it seems like the game is almost done :'( We can test it and then give feedback for what should be fixed.

Arkax said...

I guess it'll be released in the same day of Half-Life 3

Bob Saget said...

This has been going on forever, as time passes, people will become less and less intrested because of other games coming out. It's best just to release it now, before everyone gets on another game. People do get tired of waiting and just find another game, I'm almost at that point...

Any chance we will see 1-2 more classes before the game releases? And
if so is there any chance one of them will be necromancer? I love
summoning skeletons and demons to do my bidding :)

I hope I'm not double posting now but I can't seem to find the other first one so here we go:

In my opinion i'd like to see an alpha or beta release. I do understand that he wants it to be completely ready for a release but by waiting longer and longer to provide anything it's popularity will begin to drop off pretty fast. When the project was first released I couldn't wait to see something to play but then a year+ goes by and I hardly remember it anymore. From what it looks the game is stable enough even to just play around with. Which is perfect grounds to begin an alpha. If he plans to keep adding things the game will never be fully complete anyway. This is my opinion atleast

Blue said...

Wollay is there anyway we can draw on our characters faces to make facial hair in the character creator,or make our own face paint, that would pretty bad ass thing to add,If that's even possible.

Barry said...

This looks better and better with every new post. But adding quests wouldn't hurt... It would just make the game so much better! I hope quests are still added, but I'll still bu it regardless. Keep up the good work!

yeah,but its not minecraft :S

not sure if you read the comments on here, but i just read about the random adventurers thing, what if you could ask them if they would join you in a group, which i think would be a nice addition.

hope you read it and take it with you in your makeing of the game and make so many quests you want so long as you dont NEED two complet it it just make the game longer and thats good i think

I like the idea of weapon proficiency. The more you use a weapon, the better you get with it. Different classes can have higher rates of advancing with a weapon. So, say, if you're a mage, your magic starts out at a high proficiency, and you get better with magic faster. But your archery would start at a low proficiency and go up slower. With higher levels of proficiency, you can also gain skills with that weapon and upgrades, such as range for a bow or mana usage for magic.

Mark Downey said...

One of these screen shots says you picked up a crafting recipie, are we going to keep the original idea of crafting which was basicly collecting materials (small blocks) with varying effects and putting them together on a pixel-map style form to make our weapons, or are we doing the usual MMO style conveyor belt crafting?

Zeb McNeil said...

It will be more like the usual MMO style of crafting where once you have all the materials you can make the item. The voxel by voxel building method is the way of upgrading your weapons and armor, and was never intended for crafting.

I'd love to see an epic final boss atop of his bad black castle with a storm going on. With epic music and at that point you and him can do ridiculously strong stuff like in animes where mountains explodes and theres lazers of the bad guy flying around destroying pretty much everything. And once you're done the castle is a wreck. I'd love to see that!

guy that doesn't want lazers said...

No lazers

also no exploding mountains.

What's the plan on pricing? I'm DEFINITELY getting this game when it comes out :)

Tim said...

This actually looks amazing... I don't even know how I got here, I think it was a screenshot that I mistook for a Minecraft mod, but now it's bookmarked and i'm going to be coming back here hawk-eyed on a weekly basis!

"Indie" games are in an exciting place right now, I see more originality, entertainment and longevity in a comparitively low-budget sandbox game than I do big studio blockbusters. I can't wait to pay whatever the price is for this and dive right into it.

The only real suggestion i'd give would be to keep it as basic as possible. The most memorable parts of any game i've played tend to be the random events that happen. I'm thinking things in this game along the lines of sneaking around an Orc camp preparing to steal their treasure when suddenly a cyclops attacks from the forest - those are the best moments in games like this. Simply watching the AI interact with itself can be more fun than a cerebral quest line.

Another amazing feature that RPG-style games don't really seem to incorporate (but Guild Wars sort of did), was being able to make a party out of your own characters. I always liked the idea of being able to "recruit" your own characters as mercenaries in a city to attack huge castles, dungeons or caves. Or at the very least, some sort of "follower" mechanic (that could be as basic as paying an hourly fee for an AI character to follow and assist you wherever you go) would make those returns to previously dangerous places all the more epic!

Assassin is a rogue specialization. http://wollay.blogspot.com/2012/10/cube-world-class-overview.html

Main story quests or long term quests would keep the game flowing too. Otherwise you would get tired of exploring and out of things to do easly. Think about some of those and your game will be good to go.

We are well overdue a demo or beta of some kind. Just like one version to play. Then don't update or anything until you think it is done.

JoshK said...

If it comes out in two more years, it won't be as popular as the games that are coming out and the systems that are being released, he will lose money this way, it is best to come out now, get the buyers, and add features as he goes.

BirdPunch said...

You do forget something. because if he realeses it undone he can make updates. a big and good update can make me happy. like if there came a new class in a update (or a race (i love races))

I'm just trying to get my point across

Just a question. said...

Is it a large range of randomization when it's coming to the name of the areas and lands across the game? I would love a gargantuan randomization, it would make the player have more unique experiences. When I think about it, The question would maybe rather be;
Is it a -really- low chance for the name of areas to appear again?

Blog #573:
It has been 31 days since wollay's last blog. At this point, the happiness in my life has all but disappeared. Every night I pray. I pray that the next day, during one of my annual half hour visits, this blog will have something new in store. As of now, my social life is in total collapse. My last remaining friends think of me as an entirely new person. Just the other day, I began experiencing sever eye twitching. I have yet to decide whether this is linked to my small obsession with Wollay's blog. Will continue updates in the coming days...

What about throwing knifes for rangers. It would make it more interesting as it can act as a minor melee weapon and a med-high damage range weapon.

I really want to know if he might ever port this project ("Cube World") over to consoles, because it seems to me that my computer won't be able to play this game, and with the new PS4 (don't get me started on the XBOX 720, aka Loop, aka Durango) coming out this holiday season, it would be a great way of getting his game known worldwide. However, I do see that this may have potential problems, i.e. mods will not be easy to create when the game isn't on a PC, and instead on a console. Good luck, though, Wolfram. This game looks good, and I don't want to miss it. [This comment can also be found in the FAQ section.]

[^ This comment can be found in the FAQ section.] [Separate from the above comment. >] If you get pre-alpha testing open to those who share your views of what the game should turn out like, you will only hit the target audience that shares your views. Remember this. However, if you put this game into an alpha version, for let's say 50-150% (To find out who REALLY wants to test, and not just play. Also, reward the testers if you charge upwards of 100%.) then you will be able to find out what the community wants, and new ideas will flow in. When you have a 'News' tab in the start-up menu of your game, those who are truly interested can click on it to read what your plans are for the game, and after playing, you could have a pop-up screen appear, asking for bugs, new ideas, et cetera. Once more, good luck (even though you won't need it), Sir Wolfram.

eh i don't think the popularity of the upcoming stuff will matter one bit on this games popularity, though i do think he will lose buyers if he takes too long, especially if someone else decides to do something simliar and releases it first.

Are you implying that Minecraft did well BE CAUSE of its beta, cause that would be silly.

Adam said...

Minecraft is just a game. There's a resemblance? Maybe. However, this game is totally different than Minecraft. Personally, I love it how this game is growing by only one person than many staffs and helpers from Minecraft. You should appreciate what Wollay is doing because he making sure that there isn't any things to benefit and gain than the other player.
